Peyote Cactus 5 – 7 cm

The Peyote is the Mescaline Cactus species with the highest mescaline content, it contains more than 50 other alkaloids in addition to mescaline.

The peyote cactus has a very thick, white, carrot-shaped root, sometimes as thick as the above-ground blue-green head. These heads can regrow if cut off.

The peyote cactus's unique growth point is the areole, also known as the thorn cushion. These are the white dots with white hairs that cover the entire blue-green head. This serves as protection.

Peyote Cactus Flowering

The peyote flower grows from the areole (thorn cushion). The colors range from pink to whitish-pink. The cactus blooms from March through September. This is possible when the cactus body is about three centimeters in diameter. The black peyote seeds are found in the cigar-shaped pink fruits.

Effect

Mescaline is a hallucinogen. These substances alter perception. You see, hear, and/or feel things differently than they actually are. The effects of mescaline begin after about 30-60 minutes of ingestion. The first hour to an hour and a half can be unpleasant. You may feel a bit nauseous and possibly vomit. Colors become more intense, and you see ever-changing, colorful patterns and all sorts of geometric shapes. Sometimes objects become larger, then smaller. The hallucinogenic peak effects last 4 to 6 hours. You will be relatively sober again 8 to 12 hours after ingestion.
